Jokers Comedy Club is the baby of Darren Cook. It started life in early February 2007 as a throwaway comment on the train to work one morning.....people said it couldn't be done....they were wrong!!
Once that was decided, it was clearly time to find a venue, sort out ticket sales, work out how the hell you go about booking comedians, try and find some PA gear, see if the numbers added up, and generally think about how to get the word out to comedy lovers in Ipswich.
It has been a long and hard journey....but we are still here....so we must be doing something right!!! Where we are now??
Well, as I write this, we've in our third year, which have ALL been close to selling out, we've done our first deal with The Comedy Store, and we now do regular Christmas Gala dinners.
As it looks like we'll be around for a while yet, we've started a company through which we run Jokers. It's called Cook Enterprises Ltd, although as far as everyone apart from the tax man is concerned, we're still just 'Jokers Comedy Club'.
