FAQ

Is this the best comedy club in Ipswich?
Yep, totally, 100%.

Is that first question really 'Frequently Asked'?
Sadly, no. BUT WE ARE THE BEST - AND ONLY COMEDY CLUB IN IPSWICH!!!

What is the format of the comedy?
We have 4 comedians, with one of them working as compere for the evening.

What is the quality and nature of the comedy?
We've set the ticket prices to support a budget that attracts the same comedians as you would see at places such as The Comedy Store or Jongleurs.

We have some comedians who don't utter a single swear word, and others who do, although not gratuitously. Every event has a mix of comedy that should mean everyone likes at least some of it, whatever their personal taste.

Does the event have age restrictions?
Yes, but they're based on common sense (not ours of course). Under 16's won't be admitted, because the occasional naughty word gets uttered, and clearly no-one under 16 will have heard them before. Those aged 16 and 17 must be accompanied by an appropriate adult.

Do you do student concessions?
Not as such, but we do offer a range of tickets to suit all pockets, plus the group discount facility reduces these prices further.

Can I reserve seats?
We automatically place 'Reserved for' signs on all booking for 4 or more people. If you have special requirements please drop us a line at the 'info@jokerscomedyclub.co.uk' email address.

What time will it finish?
As it's a 'school night' we aim to finish the comedy by 10.30pm. Unfortunately the bar closes at 10.30pm sharp, so if we overrun slightly your 'one for the road' will have to be elsewhere.

Who are you?
Just a local lad who loves a spot of live stand-up and is fed up with not having any locally. So, during a surprisingly sober moment, decided it was time Ipswich saw some decent regular comedy again. I've seen a few try and fail, and time will tell if we'll be the same. If it succeeds (and I make a few bob for the time and hassle), we'll keep doing it. If it fails, I'll stop doing it and cry into my beer.

What is your entrance policy?
Just the usual stuff you'd expect. Please don't try and bring alcohol/drugs/weapons etc of any nature into the venue. Please also don't arrive drunk as you will not be admitted. We're looking for a good crowd who want a chilled way to end their weekend, not a bunch of twits out to be the centre of attention. You WILL be made to look stupid by the comedians. And then we'll eject you.

Why isn't there a phone number?
Jokers is a part-time business, and we therefore can't justify receiving calls when we're busy elsewhere. We do however monitor the incoming emails frequently, and would ask that you contact us via that method.

Why do we have to pay booking fees?
Because we use an external ticket agency. We've changed ticket agency for 2008, and they're actually cheaper (and better) than our previous one. If you spend over £50 on tickets in one transaction, the fee drops from 10% to 7.5%. So get a group together and save some cash!

Can we pay on the door?
If we have availability, yes. All tickets on the door will be £12, so it pays to buy in advance.
