Intense and anecdotal, David keeps audiences hooked right up to the last punchline as he presents his unique and often warped view of everyday life. This gravel-voiced comic combines supremely controlled delivery with inimitable facial contortions as he cracks some of the best handmade gags in the business.

David is a highly-regarded regular on the nationwide comedy circuit. Within the last 12 months, he has headlined the following clubs: The Glee, The Hyena Cafe, Lee Hurst's Backyard, Up the Creek, Komedia, Jesters and The Stand. Anthony King

Anthony King is an outwardly normal looking bloke who turned to comedy after he was disowned by the Catholic Church for confessing in too much detail. Having finally found a use for his twisted sense of humour, Anthony has gone on to perform at all the major comedy clubs across the UK and beyond, including performances in the Netherlands, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

Anthony's devilishly droll deadpan humour, masterful timing and delivery of a stream of one-liners combine to make him one of the most polished performers on the circuit. His act is a combination of his own true-life experiences mixed in with a whole bunch of lies.

Gerry K

Gerry K

Anecdotal, observational and refreshingly honest, Gerry K first hit the stage in 2003 and has raised the roof with laughter ever since. John Newton

John Newton

John began his comedy career in 2003. He fast became known for his inventive writing, covering a massive spectrum of subjects from the surreal to the hard hitting, yet still managing to remember that “the gag” comes first. In that respect, he’s an old fashioned gag teller/writer and proud of it.

In 2007 John started work on the Cruise Ship Circuit and in 2008 alone clocked up an impressive 24 Cruises, working on ships such as The Ventura, The Arcadia, The Oceana and Ocean Village 1 & 2. Performing to a more “mainstream audience” proved a challenge that John relished & he soon became a firm favourite of passengers and crew alike. Travelling from continent to continent has given John a wealth of experience to draw from and makes for an interesting yet hilarious set.

John has stirred away from progressing down the media route with radio and TV appearances preferring to perform live stand-up across the globe in places like:

He also managed to gain experience playing abroad in places as far flung as New York and Reykjavik, as well as an extensive tour of Japan.

In the 1990's, Kevin set up a 'Pop Quiz' in a trendy boozer in Camden, which rapidly became laden with celebrities and culminated in him being asked to organise and compere the NME's first national pop quiz. It was these events that would later inspire a move into comedy. Sometime thereafter he took the plunge.

Steve N Allen

Steve N Allen

Steve broke into stand-up in early 2002 and since then has become a regular performer across London and the South East, including gigs at The Comedy Store, Downstairs At The King's Head and the Comedy Café. Chambers And Nettleton

Chambers and Nettleton

Comedy Double Act ("Divine and very funny" Time Out)

Lynn Chambers and Sally Nettleton have an extraordinary rapport. Their stand-up and songs are delivered with warmth, charm and a caustic wit that is winning them enthusiastic fans across the country.

They are the only female double act who performs regularly on the live Comedy Circuit and they've enjoyed great success at the Edinburgh Festival : 1999, 2001 and 2002 .

"attracting the attention of telly folk searching for a new French & Saunders." Sunday Times - Culture

Before a long-term friendship turned into a comedy act, Lynn sailed the world as a singer and performer and writer of comedy revue - don't mention the sparkly frock! Sally went from drama school into acting, began improvising characters and onward into stand-up.

Between them they've done straight theatre, jazz cabaret and the working men's clubs of the north-east - so much material, so little time…….

OCTOBER COMEDY (4th Oct 2009)

Terry Alderton

Terry Alderton

Until now, ex-Southend goalkeeper and former holiday camp entertainer was comedy?s best-kept secret. This astounding act is a riot of exuberant, loose-limbed physical comedy, extraordinary caricatures and stunningly acute impressions. Combining a fearless onstage presence, unshakeable confidence and streetwise hyperactive delivery, Terry leaves his audience exhilarated and exhausted with laughter.

2000 was a great year for Terry after a highly successful sell-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe where he was nominated for the prestigious Perrier Award. This lead to Terry hosting the National Lottery programme, Red Alert, with Lulu for the BBC. Terry also appeared on The Royal Variety Show (ITV) and last year hosted theme nights for Channel 4.

Ben Van Der Velde

Ben Van Der Velde

Ben has been dizzying himself on the stand-up merry-go-round for the past two and a half years. In that time, this has been said about him:

“Whipsharp…with an air of mischievous mayhem…his hit-rate is impressive, while his in-the-moment style creates a buzz of excitement in the room…a life-giving compere.” Steve Bennet, Chortle

“highly promising…accomplished comic.” Time Out

”left the audience beaming from ear to ear with satirical quips and hilariously sinister tales.” BBC 3 Counties

“exquisite comic timing.” British Theatre Guide

“absolutely fantastic MC.” Paul Sinha

Frank Honeybone

Frank Honeybone

Frank has been performing on the comedy circuit since the start of 2004. His relaxed, engaging style is coupled with a razor-sharp wit which makes his banter with audiences a joy to watch, whether as an MC or performing a set. No heckler has ever left one of Frank's gigs feeling insulted, just a bit silly.

He has delighted and outraged crowds across the country with his chats about Wales, women and cut-price sado-masochism. He has held audiences rapt as he talks openly and frankly about his family, religion, leaving home and his experiences with IVF, and audiences warm to him immediately.

Not afraid to stage-dive to embrace or kiss hecklers, he thrives on establishing an inclusive atmosphere at any gig he performs at, and is always happy for people to join in.

In addition to this, Frank's gift for impersonation and accents have marked him out as an able performer with the scope to deal with a wide variety of comedy audiences ranging from young urban crowds to more mature gatherings

Phil Butler

Phil Butler

Phil Butler has been performing for over 15 years and has enjoyed a career which seems to get better all the time. He started as a comedy magician but soon realised that being a comic is his true vocation. His boundless confidence and razor sharp wit will quickly endear him to any audience beit a comedy club, corporate or family crowd. His fast moving act has taken him all over the world, from cruising in the Caribbean and the Med, to entertaining the Armed Forces stationed everywhere from Northern Ireland and the Falklands to Bosnia and Croatia.

"Phil Butler's got it all … unique, original and hilarious" - (The Stage and Television Today)

"Without doubt, one of the most exciting and original finds in comedy in recent years" (The Guardian)

Vince Atta

Vince Atta

It's fair to say that everything Vince Atta touches turns to gold. His high-octane performances, stunning delivery & flawless array of impressions leave you short of breath. With a broad, wonderful spectrum of material ranging from students, Spanish horses in a kitchen, psychotic London ex-girlfriends, pointless racial pride & the advantages of an alcoholic mother, Atta brings an inspiring touch of pathos which demonstrates an unerring ability to turn experience into bullet proof comedy. His festival shows 'Atta, Bowman & Hoo' (2005) & "Atta, Bowman & Hoo 2" (2006) were both among the most successful shows in their respective Manchester Comedy Festivals. Both included Vince's hour-long headline performance. They were referred to by ManchesterComedy.com as "a blinder in terms of every aspect of making a successful festival show."

Louise Scodie

Louise Scodie

Louise is a cute comedian with a dark and twisted sense of humour and a cheeky smile.

Her first-ever appearance on the circuit saw her reach the semi-finals of a national comedy competition. Louise is now a regular on the circuit both as a stand-up and MC. Thanks to her energetic style and skill with audiences, she has hosted comedy nights, music quizzes and talent shows.

Rowan Campbell is a Scottish-based Australian who started performing comedy in early 2005, at the age of 29, with a gig at The Stand in Edinburgh.

He was a finalist in the 2007 Scottish comedian of the Year competition

Ryan Gough

Ryan Gough

Ryan performed his first gig in December 2000, jumping up on a comedy club stage to deputise for his mate who 'bottled it' at the last minute. As the compere introduced his nervous friends name, he bolted into the Gents and Ryan took the mike and treated the small Birmingham crowd to an improvised routine about the boredom of his job at the time.

AUGUST COMEDY (2nd Aug 2009)

PIERRE HOLLINS

Pierre Hollins

The only other ‘proper jobs’ he’s ever had were washing dishes in the House of Commons, labouring on a gas pipe line in Qatar, in the Middle East, and teaching drama to the mentally ill.

He has been an audience favourite on the comedy circuit for many years, and has headlined at clubs throughout the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

In the early days he worked as a support act to Lenny Henry and Rory Bremner; appeared in the West End with Rita Rudner; and toured with The Flying Pickets, and Willie Rushton & Barry Cryer.

He has completely re-invented his act several times (from the early days of acrobatic spectacle and frivolous audience abuse - where he was described as ‘far fetched and semi dangerous’ Time Out).

In a more recent incarnation he was found weilding an electric squash racket - ‘must be seen to be believed’ Chortle; ‘comedy rock and roll heaven’ Hot Tickets.

Danny Deegan

Danny Deegan

One thing's for sure, Danny has a mature confidence in his abilities. He gives his routines the most sluggish of build-ups, seemingly unperturbed that the laughs aren't instantly forthcoming. When he pulls out all the stops, he can command the audience - though he can also waffle self indulgently, pausing to chat as he meanders too slowly between the punchlines. But at his best, he's a skilful raconteur, telling entertaining tales of his backwards pal's encounter with a prostitute or of the unlikely fate of Eighties TV star Jan-Michael Vincent, of Airwolf fame.

Over the last decade, Rob Heeney has established a reputation as one of the top comics working the UK circuit today. His style is a blend of bitterness, playfulness and cynicism wrapped up in a blanket of charm.

Originating from Douglas, Isle of Man, where he was born one Christmas Eve, you'd think this qualified Chemical Physicist, trained Systems Analyst, former Taxi Driver and International Table Tennis player would be able to draw on these amazing experiences. He cannot.

'The saviour of the show...Our tip for the top' - Danny Wallace, BBC Comedy

Rob has long since lost count of the number of clubs he's appeared in, but they include all the UK's top ones; The Comedy Store, Jongleurs, The Glee, Up the Creek. He also appears as part of the Paramount Comedy On Tap tour of the country's universities each year.

Paul Pirie

Paul Pirie

Paul Pirie began his Stand-up career in April 2004 after giving up acting to pursue the funny man that lies within and quickly established himself on the Scottish comedy circuit. It should be pointed out that at the time he was living with his Gran, having given away his flat in a pub quiz.

Paul has had a consecutive succession of sell out shows at The Glasgow Comedy Festival, most recently in 2007, with his first solo show, "I Pirie the Fool". Previous to this, his comedic ability was recognized in 2006 as he took second place in the Scottish Comedian of the Year Award, and his outstanding performances and comical writings were included in "Scotland 4 Australia 1" in 2005 at the Glasgow Comedy Festival, which went on to have a further successful sell out run in the Edinburgh Fringe at the Underbelly the same year. In 2006 he teamed up with other comedians to form 'Four Men and a Little Lady', which again had sold out during the Glasgow Comedy Festival in 2006.

Comedian, actor and writer Gareth Berliner has firmly established himself as an accomplished comic performer. He has been performing stand-up in the UK and Internationally for over 5 years since blagging his first 5 minutes at Up The Creek in Greenwich.

Irresistibly amiable Gareth's act touches on his odd life and perspective. Berliner almost died long before ever becoming a stand-up and this affords him the ability to tell some intricately woven anecdotes and sharply crafted gags with an edge.

APRIL FOOLS BIRTHDAY SPECIAL (5th April 2009)

REX BOYD

Rex Boyd

American comedian and former street performer Rex Boyd is a highly sought after act on both the national and international comedy circuits. Often likened to a cross between Lee Evans and Jim Carrey, due to his manic physicality, Rex is brilliant crowd pleaser and a slicker-than-slick stand up.

Rex thrives on audience participation and improvisation and from time to time also draws on his expert skills as a juggler. Rex started doing comedy in his hometown of Kansas City in 1986. A couple of years later he was working the London alternative comedy scene as well as street performing regularly at Covent Garden. This was followed by four years globe trotting the festival circuit before finally settling down back in England where Rex has been an unusual highlight of the comedy club circuit ever since.

DAVID HADINGHAM

David Hadingham

David Hadingham has been a professional comic since May 1996.

JOHN GORDILLO

John Gordillo

John Gordillo has appeared on "Best of the Comedy Store" (C5/Paramount). He has recently returned to stand up after a 6 year break, during which time he hosted & co-created two series of a nightly talk show for BBC 3 ("The RDA with John Gordillo") and directed any number of live comedy & theatre shows, two of which were nominated for the Perrier.

In 2005 he wrote, directed & produced a Comedy Lab for Channel 4 ("Blackout") which he's making into a film. Lately he's directed a couple of sketch shows for BBC3 and ITV 2, due for transmission in early '07

In 2007 John will be appearing at the Edinburgh Fringe in his first full length show: "Come Listen To Your White Master"

JEN BRISTER

Jen Brister

Zany foreign parents are almost a staple of modern stand-up, but the portrayal of the bonkers Spanish mother at the core of Jen Brister’s routine is elevated well above the crazy-accented norm.

Instead, Brister fleshes her stage Mum out into a proper character - a fiery, passionate but old-fashioned woman with whom she is constantly clashing. Vignettes of the rows they have are convincingly played out, proving Brister to be an astute observer and a talented actress – at least when it comes to playing a blood relative!

In fact, these routines almost don’t really feel like stand-up at all, but try-out scenes from a realistic sitcom, where jokes are secondary to character and performance. Good lines do bubble to the surface – such as the mother’s awkward attempts at hurling insults in her second language of English – but at heart it’s an affectionate mocking of the woman who exasperates her so.

STAN STANLEY

Stan Stanley

"Stan and Deliver! Stan Stanley can shake a crowd with his energetic pace…" The Daily Telegraph

Since becoming runner up of the Daily Telegraph Open Mike Award 2002 and making a big impact at the Edinburgh Fringe 2003 ("Simply Class" - Fest), Stan has become a firm favourite on the comedy circuit. Stan is a warm and genial comic with brilliant timing, who delivers smart, satirical observations that have more of an edge than their light-hearted handling and delivery suggest.

In 2004 Stan was invited to perform in the prestigious 'Britcom Show' at the Montreal Just For Laughs Comedy Festival. His appearance was so successful that the festival extended his stay.

"Stan Stanley was the triumph of the night" - Chortle review of the Britcom Show.

A prolific writer, Stan has written sketches for radio and television including two series of 'Man Stroke Woman' for BBC 3 (which later transferred to BBC 2), 'Blunder' Channel 4 and 'Parsons and Naylor's Big Pullout section' BBC Radio 4.

Stan is currently developing a radio sketch show with his wife Nina Conti. 2007 will see Stan continuing his success on the circuit, and making further inroads into TV and radio, through both his writing and performance.

AUGUST GIGGLES (3rd Aug 2008)

Ronnie Golden

Ronnie Golden

Ronnie Golden’s journey has been a long and fascinating one.

From opening shows for Tom Jones, Scott Walker and Engelbert Humperdinck as a teenaged guitarist, he worked with David Bowie in his Beckenham Arts Lab days then went on to form cult late 70s renegades “Fabulous Poodles,” whose album “Mirror Stars” outsold both The Clash and The Jam in America in the early 80’s.

Within a few short weeks of that band’s demise he was doing stand-up at London’s Boulevard Theatre alongside Comic Strip regulars Rik Mayall, Ben Elton, a nascent French and Saunders and Alexei Sayle and performing a legendary ‘Buddy Holly’ in the first series of BBC 2’s “The Young Ones.” He remains the only original member from the Comic Strip team to still be actively working on today’s comedy circuit. There were several guest spots and cameos: he played Tracey Ullman’s ‘son’ in C4’s first “Friday Night Live” then performed with Mac McDonald in “Saturday Live” and was a detective and then a ‘doo-wop’ singer in a couple of Lenny Henry Shows. His voice, regularly heard on “Spitting Image,” was featured on the No.1 single “The Chicken Song/We’re Scared Of Bob.”

Felix Dexter

Felix Dexter

Dexter is not only a great standup but also an excellent character comic, a talent he uses to great effect in his act.

When he's doing the straight observational stuff, the act is very enjoyable, with enough of a twist to make it very interesting.

It's when characters are seemlessly introduced to his stories, though, that the routine lifts up several divisions.

The middle-class lawyer convincing no one but himself that he's still true to his Caribbean roots is a particularly fine creation.

And when these creations meld in with his more personal stories, the result is impressive, as Dexter delivers a quality act that sticks to its distinctive black roots, while being easily accessible to all.

Jason John Whitehead

Jason John Whitehead

This laid-back Canadian may project the insouciant demeanour of an unfocussed wastrel - but that’s just camouflage, allowing him to spin some very funny yarns without drawing attention to how it’s done.

Such a conversational approach is so low-key you might mistake it for genuinely unscripted chit-chat, but from the laughs he generates, it’s clear the amiable Whitehead knows exactly what he’s doing.

As a foreigner, he also has an outsiders’ take on British mores, particularly our propensity for drink, which he employs to good effect. But he’s also wise to limit this to a few quick icebreaking gags, preferring instead to dedicate most of his set to amusing first-hand anecdotes.

Paddy Lennox

PADDY LENNOX

Irish comedian and actor Paddy Lennox first burst on to stage as a Stand-Up in 2001 only to be interrupted with a couple of comedies at the Shakespeare Globe Theatre and filming in far off lands, before returning to his new found passion. An engaging and instantly likeable comic, Paddy combines topical material with observational routines.

Michael Fabbri

Michael Fabbri

Michael Fabbri is fast earning an enviable reputation as one of the best up-and-coming acts around – becoming sharper and smarter with each passing month. Inventive in his outlook, he has latterly acquired the gig-hardened discipline of hitting punchlines hard and often without allowing this reliable professionalism to compromise his relaxed, slacker persona.

His trick is to play the juvenile buffoon while delivering material with an increasing edge. He starts silly, giving the impression he’s struggling to maintain a grown-up decorum while taking a barely concealed childish glee in his daft observations. He’s even made a few ridiculous props to illustrate one routine, but it’s restrained, and doesn’t seem at all gimmicky.
